Is The Word Purgatory In The Bible

What does the bible say about purgatory? Catholics believe in Purgatory BASED on what the BIBLE says that there are sins FORGIVEN in the AFTERLIFE.In 2 Maccabees 12: 43-44 and 46 it says, "He [Judas Maccabeus] gathered together his army of up to 2,000 drachmas. They sent it to Jerusalem as an offering for the remission of their sins."

"As he did this, he did a GREAT and AMAZING thing as long as he had in mind the resurrection of the dead."

"Because if he does not expect the resurrection of the dead, praying for the dead is pointless and foolish."

"That is why he made an offering for the dead when they were RELEASED FROM SIN."

The offering for the FORGIVENESS of the SIN of the DEAD is said to be "a GREAT and AMAZING THING."

And that is said to be related to "EXPECTED [to] RESURRECTION" or RESURRECTION.

So, BELIEVING in PRAYER in the FORGIVENESS of SIN in the AFTERLIFE is PART of the BELIEF of those who HOPE in THE RESURRECTION.

The question is WHERE IS FORGIVENESS FOR SIN IN THE AFTERLIFE?

That is happening in PURGATORY.

PURGATORY comes from LATIN PURGARE which means MAKE CLEAN.

So, PURGATORY is where a person's SOUL is CLEANSED or PURIFIED.

Why is it necessary to CLEAN or CLEANSE a SOUL in the AFTERLIFE?

Because according to the BIBLE, specifically in Revelation 21:27, "NO ONE who is unclean can enter [Heaven]."

So, it is CLEAR that there is a PURGATORY in the BIBLE and its BASIS is both in the OLD TESTAMENT (2 Mac 12: 43-44, 46) and in the NEW TESTAMENT (Rev 21:27).

But NON-CATHOLICS will surely question our use of the book of MACABEO.

They will say "the Maccabees are not included in the Bible."

In the TRANSLATION they use there are probably no Maccabees, but in the ORIGINAL BIBLE based on the writings USED by JESUS, the APOSTLES and the FIRST CHRISTIANS INCLUDE the MACCABEES

THE SCRIPTURE USED by CHRIST is the SEPTUAGINT or the GREEK VERSION of the OLD TESTAMENT.

The SEPTUAGINT includes the MACCABEES and CERTAINLY READ by the LORD JESUS and the APOSTLES.

That is why the LORD JESUS Himself PREACHED THAT THERE IS MORE FORGIVENESS OF SIN IN THE AFTERLIFE.

He showed that in Matthew 12:32.

The Lord said, "Whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him."

"But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven at this time or even in the FUTURE."

The "coming time" referred here is "THE AFTERLIFE."

So, CHRIST Himself REVEALED that there is still FORGIVENESS of SIN in the AFTERLIFE.

And again, our CALL where SINS FORGIVES is PURGATORY.

In PURGATORY, the SIN of the person who has passed away is CLEANED.

So, the PURGATORY BASIS in the AFTERLIFE is CLEAR.

And it is also CLEAR that BELIEF in PURGATORY is IMPORTANT to PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL LOOKING FOR A RESURRECTION. (2Mi 12: 43-44, 46)

So others who 'DO NOT BELIEVE in PURGATORY' can NO LONGER EXPECT THE RESURRECTION.
